Unless you have specifically tested the security in and around your eBusiness Suite, it is highly likely that your system is vulnerable to attack. There are many points of entry and areas that need to be locked down to make sure that your system is secure. These include desktop applications, operating systems, network settings and a multitude of Oracle products which need to be “hardened”.

To focus the mind, research from CERT (The Computer Emergency Readiness Team) shows that financial loss from such security attacks range from £84 to £341 million.

According to the research:

• 91% of financial attacks had at least one other adverse impact
• 30% suffered losses greater than £250,000
• 83% took place from within the organisation; and
• 70% took place during normal office hours.

• Prevent information theft
• Achieve a high service availability
• Ensure best practice
• Avoid bad use of information
• Certify data quality with customers and share holders
• Enable control; and
• Create trust.
